Join us and celebrate Christmas with a delicious lunch and a day out on the train!

Get into the festive spirit with Steam Incorporated—perfect for celebrating with colleagues, friends, and family!

Jump onboard our heritage train departing Wellington Station, and nestle down into your seats for a relaxing journey up the coast behind one of our heritage Da class locomotives.

After arriving at the private entry at Tatum, you'll take a short walk across the car park and follow the music into the Pavilion, where we settle in just in time for lunch!

Immerse yourself in a well-crafted meal, created by the talented chefs there. The menu is set to be a classic kiwi style Christmas buffet feast with all the trimmings!

There will be plenty to keep you entertained such as outdoor games, live music, and 2 dinner sittings, so there is plenty of time to tour Tatum, check out Tatum House, and relax in the gardens on the Tatum House Lawn with a drink. You will be advised of your sitting time prior to arrival.

Departing Tatum, climb on board, head to the Lounge Car, grab a drink from the bar and enjoy the journey home. This unforgettable ride hugs the dramatic coastline along the famed Kapiti escarpment, offering sweeping views of the Tasman Sea and rugged cliffs. It’s a rare chance to relive the golden age of rail in one of New Zealand’s most scenic rail corridors as the sun begins to set.

This excursion will be hauled by our 1955-built diesel electric locomotive, Da 1410, and consist of our steel carriages.

Limited Mobility Disclaimer

Tatum does NOT have a platform. This means you must be able to board and disembark the train from ground level with little to no assistance.

Due to the age, design and nature of our heritage carriages, these are not suitable for passengers with limited mobility. If you have any concerns, please contact us on 0800 783 264 to discuss options with our bookings team!

All tickets and seating allocations are sent via email, within 48 hours prior to the departure of this excursion.
